The 22-Pushup Challenge is here and spreading like wildfire. Similar to the 2014 Ice Bucket Challenge, the viral campaign is for a good cause. Participants pump out 22 pushups to raise awareness for the 22 military veterans who commit suicide on a daily basis. Then, a new group of individuals is challenged.
Thanks to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the movement is shifting into the sports world. The Rock -- who heard about the challenge through Chris Pratt, who was challenged by John Krasinski – challenged comedian Kevin Hart, NFL star J.J. Watt and U.S. Olympic swimmer Simone Manuel.
Watt accepted and did the pushups in front of an American flag. He challenged Houston area residents Simone Biles and Jim Parsons, singer Justin Timberlake and actor/politician Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Meanwhile, Manuel, who became the first African-American woman to win an individual Olympic gold medal in this year's 100-meter freestyle, was accompanied by fellow gold medalist Ryan Murphy.
The duo challenged only one person: Michael Phelps (to do 23 pushups with his 23 gold medals on).
Thanks to the Olympics, the 22-Pushup Challenge could be headed for a global movement.
